H.G. Wells autographed novel "The World of William Clissold", 3 volumes, volume 1 signed by author in pen and ink, limited edition of 198 copies. Printed in Great Britain 1926, with vellum or cloth bindings and gilt highlights. All 3 volumes in very good condition. Note the bookplate caricature of renowned publisher Donald S. Friede, in the Art Deco style, signed in plate Covarrubias (Miguel Covarrubias, Mexican artist 1904-1957). Provenance: From the Thomas Rockwell collection. Tom was the son of the famous American illustrator, Norman Rockwell. He was a book collector and book seller residing in both Stockbridge Massachusetts and Lagrangeville NY. In Stockbridge, he opened a book and print store with his brother Peter.
