It's ...view morea salute to the courage, progressive thinking, and creativity of the era's innovators, as they struggled to redefine what it meant to be modern. And, it's a reminder of the impact those ideas and aesthetics had, and are still having today.
Our age-authentic, period Mid Century ORIGINALS include signed and designed pieces by artists that have been widely copied, such as • husband & wife duo Charles & Ray Eames’s First-generation DKX chairs for Henry Miller, with the original Alexander Girard hopsak covers • Jens Risom (Florence Knoll’s first designer, introduced Scandinavian design) • Sigurd Ressell’s amazing Falcon chair • Arthur Umanoff whose design influence is still seen today • Folke Ohlsson’s Slipper Chair, designed in the early 50s & still in production for Dux • Arne Wahl Iversen (ironically, an early Ikea designer) • We have many other excellent vintage MCM pieces with no detectable signature or label, but whose age, design and quality of build overwhelmingly suggest Milo Baughman, Ingo Maurer, Kovacs, etc...You be the judge. So many of these designs are ubiquitous today, that their origins are taken for granted. What we are offering was made between the late 1950’to the 70s, many of is Danish origin, all are in fantastic shape for their age.
A note on condition: The mechanics work. The drawers function. The fabrics are clean, the springs and foam is firm, the lampshades are intact. HOWEVER Do consider these pieces were owned by families, and date back to the moon launches. Some fading, pilling, yellowing and/or foam deterioration is to be expected. Be as vintage as you want to be. You may decide to use it as is, or replace/re-upholster.

It’s an aesthetic of the influencers and geniuses that came from outside the mainstream over 40 years ago, and changed the world as we know it. It’s about thinkers and writers and innovators whose creativity was born out of restlessness and struggle of the 50’s, 60’s 70’s & beyond. It’s about the troublemakers who dared to provoke, and challenged others to think differently. How quickly we dismiss the heart and sweat, courage, intellect and muscle that went into creating the seismic innovations that we now take for granted ... especially that these works have become “mainstream.”

Look for an imposing figural modern art sculpture, along with a pedestal, is a pièce de résistance in any modern interior, and vintage 196os flat-weave textiles and kilims that are currently in such high demand..
To represent technology, we have the world’s first folding typewriter, the Corona 3 and a 1950s Vintage Olympia German typewriter, a witness to the early days of self-publishing. The rise of mass communication is represented by the iconic 1955’s Electro-Voice V-3 Ribbon broadcast microphone.
Ah, the music! It was always there, at the forefront of change, uniting people behind a common cause. The lyrics were the soundtracks of our lives (that we thought our parents wouldn't understand.) We are auctioning vinyl albums, singles, CDs and cassettes. Take a look at the 45s, you'll surely remember those titles. Careful, they'll stay in your head all day.
Let’s not forget all of the art that goes unsigned, whose names are lost to time, from South Africa, Congo, Ivory Coast, Kenya,Mexico, Peru, Costa Rico, Chile, Pacific Northwest, Canada, Indonesia, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, India and more. Artist world-wide who supported their families by their skilled hand crafts by carving, painting, weaving, metalwork, printmaking, ceramics, whose names are lost to time. Of these items, we have Goli mask, Kifwebe masks, Macassar ebony carvings for the tourist trade, Gullah baskets, hand-woven wall hangings, Turkish Kilims, Peruvian and Mexican rugs and textiles, jewelry, African trade-beads... These families had a hunger for knowledge and curiosity about other ways of life. We’ve made it easy for you to expand your world view by incorporating these vintage relics into your home.
The books, decor, art and design, and even furnishings from the mid century are all inextricably linked. They all serve as a reminder (to those who can remember) of a time when the earth beneath our feet shifted ... when the mainstream was finally forced to pay attention, adapt and embrace the change.
Special regards go to the African American men and women of the Black Arts Movement. Among them, we are thrilled to represent signed first-edition works by the supremely excellent Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison in this auction. It is our hope this collection will generate conversation and curiosity, and lead others to explore the artists, play writers, poets and authors who courageously held up a mirror to racism and oppression. America is still learning.

• Each apointment will have a generous window of time to load your vehicle, but no time to waste.
• If you don’t CALL OR TEXT and are more than 15 minutes late, you will lose your time slot. If you don’t CALL OR TEXT will likely loose your purchases/furniture too. No exceptions. All items are as- is. No returns. If you are dissatisfied about your purchase or your experience, talk to us first, before leaving a bad review.

It’s important to make note of which pickup location (zip code) the item is in, and make sure you can keep the appointment BEFORE you bid. Why is this important? If you miss the pickup, and are more than 15 minutes late, you will be considered in default, AND OWNERSHIP REVERTS BACK TO THE ESTATE. If you know you can’t make the scheduled pickup, you must call ahead to schedule an alternate pickup time, at our convenience, within 48 hours or arrange to have someone other than yourself pickup. A surcharge will be added to pickups occurring outside the scheduled time slots.
