Herman Miller Love Friendship "Environmental Enrichment Panel" by Alexander Girard, acrylic on canvas, c. 1972. Charles Eames hired Girard, then an architect, in 1952 to head Herman Miller's textile division. Girard's designs were originally intended to humanize the office workspace environment and compliment Herman Miller's office furniture line. Girard created 40 Environmental Enrichment Panels, loosely based on American Folk Art.
