We believe this to be a hand carved scrimshawed snuff box Revelutionary War era. States on cover John Jones Me Lat Mi22 Leaneairtal. Could be the name of the vessel.3 1/2" long x 2 1/4" wide x 1/2" deep. Bottom side is scrimshawed with compass point. Has dried and separated but could easily be joined. Being sold as found.
