Item Description

Deep well continental 14" pewter charger with pictorial center featuring knight in full armor entitled Adrian von Bubenberg commemorative pewter charger. Signed Hallmarks on verso. Shield and star insignia on the outer rim of the plate.We believe this is 15th or 16th century pewter. 14" in diameter. 1 1/2" deep. Interior well has numerous cut marks from food being served in it for the past 200 to 300 years. History of Adrian von Bubenberg: Adrian von Bubenberg was 1424 in Bern; died August 1479 in Bern. He was a Bernese knight, military commander and mayor (Schultheiss) of Bern in 1468-1469, 1473-1474 and 1477-1479. In Switzerland, he is remembered as the hero of the 1476 Battle of Murten. We found no comparable on any auction site. This could the only one in existence.
