A holocaust survivor, he devoted himself to remembering the beauty of Jewish life in the shtetl.

The painting evokes nostalgia. Through His bold use of dark colors and lighting the work can feel dark, sad, and oppressive.

He moved to Paris in 1942, where he lived for twenty years before immigrating to Israel in 1962.

Joined the Artists' Quarter in Safed when he moved to Israel and has represented Israel in exhibitions around the world.
