American Illustrator Felix Octavius Carr Darley (1822-1888) Pencil Signed this Original illustration used to illuminate Sir Walter Scott's Romantic novel - Kenilworth. As per the reverse - it is Chapter 15 (XV). page 165 depicting Queen Elizabeth (whose gauzy cape appears to hand-colored a wispy blue-white), with Amy Robsart and the biblical quote from 1 Samuel 28:9 - "Knowest then this Woman". It delicately framed by a Madison Ave. art gallery with a 1/2" black & gold scoop moulding, 'French', Gold-lipped, Double matting and glass.
Outside measure of the frame is 15 3/4 x 17 1/4 - is in Good Vintage condition.
Image (mat) opening measures 6 3/4 x 8 1/4 and is in Very Good Antique condition.
