American (New York) Artist, Jeanne Ross Signed, on lower right, this Impressionist, Atmospheric, Nighttime, Shoreline, an Original Oil on Canvas. It depicts El Morro or 'Castillo San Felipe del Morro' a 16th C. military fort that juts out into San Juan harbor and is considered a significant historical landmark in Puerto Rico. The sun setting behind gives the fort a wonderful, dark and moody profile under restless clouds. Dynamic, powerful brushstrokes and deep color palette employed. It is signed on back as well as dated - 1984. Jeanne Ross is the creator of "Realistic Expressionism" a new genre in painting by sculpting with pure oils, while combining the past schools of impressionism and post-impressionism. Rich color palette and heavy paint application - Impasto-like technique. Dynamic yet serene! Ross has had numerous solo exhibitions in New York as well as other galleries throughout the United States.
