I am going to use a baseball card analogy . You buy a group of cards that include Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth Cards. In their condition worth $500 each. Along with those are a few cards about players who are not famous and generally not worth a lot. But they are in mint condition. Typically collectors strive to own a complete set of 100 to 300 cards and try to maintain at least a 8 grade and want each card to average 9.3 or similar. The common card or what we are substituting these dolls for. Unfortunately doll makers don't make 50 different dolls which would allow for this type of trading. But if you have a common card that is in the top 1% in condition of it's peers that's a big thing and possible making that card worth 100 times the norm if it were in average condition. This doll and a couple more to follow are such examples. The doll was made prior to WWII looked at and then stored for three generations or seven decades or more. The purchase price of $1.49 in 1942 wouldn't have swelled beyond $10.00 but this one being in untouched non manipulated condition what is it's value. Probably taking in to account that it's at this site and not likely to have that 1% buyer so it's worth $10.00 and no one will pay that so it will sell if it sells at all for $5.00. Wow what was my point. When the auction is over and if I still have these three dolls. I will send them to the premier doll auction if they are even accepted What amount will they bring. In this situation I've just spent 20 minutes for $5.00. But because Mr collector from France and the guy from Belgium compete for them and they sell for !05, !31, and 108 dollars respectfully.
Summary
inconclusive however if I was sitting around this winter I might ship the remaining dolls to an auction. If I get three hundred for them a friend will get a dinner and a gambling budget. Call me chicken for not have listed two dolls we have, but If a serious doll collector approached say when People were picking up items and wanted to buy arguably the best conditioned 15" Shirley Temple doll or a perfect 1939 skookum doll in box hit me up. I will figure out how to sell them through ninja to assure they get paid.
