As per statements from Peter Adkinson, the former CEO of Wizards of the Coast, the initial print run of Magic: The Gathering's Alpha edition comprised 295 distinct collectible cards, with the company setting a production cap of 2.61 million cards. Distribution of these cards to the public occurred through 36-pack booster boxes and 10-deck displays of starter decks. Enthusiastic players and collectors swiftly depleted much of the supply as the trading card game gained rapid popularity. Being the pioneering collectible card game, MTG enabled players to devise strategies and construct innovative decks using various monster and artifact cards. The extensive array of cards and effects guaranteed unique gameplay experiences, ensuring no two games were alike and contributing to MTG's substantial replay value as players experimented with different card combinations. In the upcoming TCG Premier Auction, collectors have a rare chance to acquire one of the few remaining factory-sealed 60-card Alpha starter decks still in existence.
