Gamma decks were developed by game creator Richard Garfield during the third phase of testing and are the source of many iconic cards that eventually were included in Magic’s official release. Gamma cards are much more aesthetically pleasing. Previous cards are largely without any illustration, while Gamma cards are fully illustrated with clip art (mostly borrowed from Dungeons and Dragons manuals) or hand-drawn illustrations.
