An animal painter, Rogue Simpson depicts cattle, horses, buffalo, antelope, deer and wolves in their natural habitat from her studio in Phoenix, Arizona. She likes to capture moments in the lives of these creatures that people usually don't see. One of her favorite painting locations is Yellowstone National Park.

She works primarily in oil, but her earlier works were done in conte crayon, many of them black and white.

Simpson was named for her paternal grandmother, Emily Caroline Guirey,
whose nickname was Rogue, and the artist whose full name is Caroline Rogue Guirey Simpson has always gone by the name of Rogue. Her family has Arizona roots, and her father, Fred Guirey, a landscape architect for the State of Arizona in the 1930s, developed the idea of roadside rests along the highways.

She is a graduate of the University of Arizona at Tucson where she studied art and then worked in San Francisco as a commercial artist. She briefly moved to Vail, Colorado where she owned a small clothing boutique. There she started painting again after attending the first "Summer Vail" art workshop where she was encouraged to develop her own style and pursue the subject matter of animals she enjoyed.

She married Fred Simpson, a horse trainer, and they moved to Phoenix. She is a lifetime member of the Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson and has had numerous painting commissions for animal work including the Livestock Association, the Out of Africa Park in Fountain Hills, and the Phoenix Jaycees Rodeo. She is a charter member of the American Women Artists. One of her mentors is Shoofly Shufelt, who was her teacher at the Scottsdale Artists School.
