Charles Auguste Edelmann (1879 - 1950): Une Maison de Grenades, 1897. Color etching on paper, mounted to matboard.
Born in Alsace, Charles Auguste Edelmann initially studied in Paris under Maillart, then in the workshops of Gerome and Humbert. His early focus was on realistic genre painting, but later he shifted to portraying Parisian women and intimate still life with a classical touch, marked by simplified treatment, luminous compositions, and a subtle palette reminiscent of Giorgio Morandi.
14 x 11 inches with mat; 6 x 5.5 inches plate.
Ferdinand Roten Galleries Baltimore, MD, USA; 2005, Private collection, Boston, USA.
Notes: Very good condition, the paper is slightly toned.
