In addition to the young sailor's naval uniform offered separately, we have a framed naval training class graduation photo from Aug 22, 1945 in which this young man appears. As explained by the family, this young man was onboard ship on his way to take part in the invasion of Japan as the next step in the pacific war, and while enroute, the war ended! The USS Chenango, a battle veteran of the Pacific theatre was his assigned ship, and included in this lot as well is the ships "yearbook", which almost all the large ships put together, that even includes the 1945 Christmas Dinner menu given to the sailors in the post-war era. Amazing history to be held in your hands, the greatest generation.
Consistent with age and use.
