Medal awarded to British officers and men of the British forces who served in WWI
Originally there would’ve been a bar and ribbon with the medal but that has been removed and a link placed in the hole to hold a chain to wear as a pendant
I couldn't remove the chain but let most of it hang off the scale-wt was 11 g on my postal scale-not sure how precise this is.
1-3/8” diameter
Approximately 1/8” thick
along the edge is the recipient's name, rank, number and unit.
8981
Sgt J Bethell
KSLI (King's Shropshire Light Infantry)
I was able to find online that Sgt Bethell was killed in action. Medals were given to the family if this was the case.
