Rare & interesting World War II Sailor's Estate Photographs Lot of 4 1936 & 1938 Post Cards and a photograph. Black & White from our WWII sailor's estate photo lot.
Four 1936 & 1938 Post Cards. Mailed from the Naval Cadet who was in training at the Newport, Rhode Island U.S. Naval Training Station.
1. Post card shows the Chapel; 2. Shows the bag inspections procedures; 3. Shows the dormitory barracks "B"; and 4. Shows the Library.
Our Sailor writes to his pals at his barber shop in New Haven, Conn (initially located on Fairfield Avenue, then on West Water Street, and then relocates to East Street.
The addressee's name is his friend - last name Lucibello - who is listed as the manager of the Paramount Barber Shop. This information is hand-written on the backof an extra framed photograph that has hand-written "Paramount Barber Shop" on its face. This last name is a famous Bakery family name in New Haven - Lucibello's on Grand Avenue est. 1929. We just found another photo of the Barber - Pat Lucibello and Salvatore Santore dated August 20, 1938. It has rough condition- but it just helps to tie together more of our main character's life during his pre- Battleship duty in the Pacific while he was still attending the Newport, RI Naval Training Station and he sent communications to his friends back at the New Haven, Conn Barbershop.
Condition: In good condition. Lots of hand writing in pencil on the Paramount Barber Shop photograph frame (including all the workers and their positions at the shop). He probably kept it with him in his locker or duffle bag to remind him of his friends at home while he was away from home at the Naval Training School.
Consistent with age and use.
