Item Description

Zell was a leading compact company from the '30s-'60s and was one of the "5th Avenue" lines, and this one with automobiles would not be wrong to place it in the late 30's to early 50's as when car culture really took off. It would make sense for middle to late 30's when the depression was beginning to subside a bit and the cars depicted were models of a recent era. I would not say early to mid-40's though, the war effort and all. Inside is a pad for powdering face and mesh to protect the powder. David Zell started the company, and the Zell company had some quite novel compact designs early on. Quite the vintage piece. 2.5" Square.
