Item Description

VINTAGE 1970's WINTEC STEREO AM/FM RECEIVER AMPLIFIER Late in 1976, 4 Wintec recievers hit the market. Many say that based on specs, power consumption, and construction, that Wintec units were made by Luxman and re-labeledThey were built to compete with the high end audio.Early in 1979, the company folded. They held up better than many other brands (technics, Yahama) Originally retailed at 900.00 unit is clean with minimal signs of wear unit was tested and sounds grrreat! VERY LOUD FOR 70 Watts... and that was with the volume on 3 :) These units are rare and sound great! only 1 other on ebay and it is listed at $500! "While you'll have to dig around a bit to find what little information there is, it seems that this company made a number of models throughout the 1970's. It also seems as though they enjoyed a reputation for fine performance with the later models (like this one) getting the highest marks. I will say that when I was performing a full checkover and cleaning, the construction and component quality are right on a par with the Pioneer or Sansui gear of the same vintage. Likewise, the sound that this receiver offers is quite nice with a smooth and musical presentation that is a hallmark of the better audio gear from that time. Where the Wintec stands apart is in terms of looks and features. First, the styling is simply beautiful.
