Swank jewelry is an iconic American brand of costume jewelry first introduced in the 1920s. It was renowned for its extremely high-quality standards and well crafted designs. Swank started as a small Chicago based company but quickly gained international recognition, becoming one of the most popular jewelry brands throughout the United States and abroad.

In 1921 the brand was created by William Swank, who had previously been manufacturing cuffs and lapel pins. He soon began expanding his product line to include brooches, necklaces, earrings, chains, belts and more while perfecting the techniques used in his production process. In 1922 he moved from Chicago to Jamestown, New York where he opened its new headquarters located inside a former bank building. The move allowed for increased production capacity and improved access to international markets.
Within 10 years Swank had become a major player in the jewelry market and by 1930 annual sales totaled over $1 million with some estimates exceeding $3 million. Swank’s remarkable success was due to their extraordinary craftsmanship which combined age old techniques with modern materials like bakelite plastic and rhinestones that were just starting to be used in fashion accessories at that time.
