Vintage framed print - Esther Tuttle at the age of 20, May 1835, painted by George H Davis in 1836. The original is owned by the New York Historical Society (since 1937). It was originally in a folk art collection owned by avant-garde sculptor, Elie Nadelman, and displayed in the Museum of Folk Art, Riverdale, NY (1924-34). I’m guessing this was purchased as a souvenir at one of those museums in the past.
The frame is made of wood and is black and gold. It is covered with glass.
Frame measures 11 3/4” x 14 1/2”.
Print at the opening measures 7 1/2” x 10”.
Notes: Glass is good, some wrinkling on the print, maybe a bit of soiling on the print and matte, some yellowing, some wear on the corners and edges of frame.
Consistent with age and use.
