VINTAGE JEWISH OIL PAINTING RABBI, TEMPLE DAVENING OVER TORAH SCROLL Tallits, Judaica, BERNSTEIN, ABERNSTEIN

The beautifully rich colors, enhanced by metallic gold decoration, of this canvas on board painting are outstanding. The execution is quite charming. It depicts a group of four holy men wearing a tallit, prayer shawls, in a temple. They are standing over a scroll, which I think is the Torah. A chandelier with a multitude of flickering candles burns overhead.

(My apologies, I'm a shiksa, not of the Jewish faith. I hope I described this painting correctly!)

It is signed ABERBERNSTEIN 1962. I was thinking the artist's name is Abe Bernstein and he signs his work in a clever manner.

The wooden frame has streaks of applied jewel tones, green, red, metallic golds, which the artist applied to enhance it. Simply gorgeous and appropriate for the artwork.

Notes: Please view the numerous, detailed photos for an accurate appraisal of this item's condition. The frame has extensive chipping of paint, revealing the white gesso beneath.

Consistent with age and use.

The frame measures 26.5 by 30.75; the painting itself is 20 by 24."
