Antique Art Print ALICE BLUE GOWN by artist Arthur Garrett in period frame under glass, likely from the 1920's. Excellent condition.

Info found online: Arthur Garrett (b.1873 - d.1955) Born in Lambeth, Arthur Garrett was a portrait painter and engraver who enjoyed considerable success and was commissioned to paint many of the leading people of his time including Rodin. He studied at the City of London School and exhibited from 1899-1919. During the 1920's, he spent several years in New York. "Alice Blue Gown" is a portrait of Alice Roosevelt Longworth, eldest child of President Theodore Roosevelt. She was born in 1884 and died in 1980. During her early lifetime, she became very popular as a trendsetter and remained a Washington, D.C. socialite most of her life. This picture became immensely popular in the 1920s and it was widely published in various sizes. The original painting which this print was copied from was created by English painter, Arthur Paine Garrett. During the 1920s, Garrett spent several years in New York. He is best remembered as a fine portrait artist, with considerable success during his lifetime.
