Item Description

The rarest inverted stamp in the 1901 Pan-American Exposi tion series is the 2º denomination titled "Fast Express." Only 158 copies of this error stamp are known to exist. Current valuations reflect the stamp's rarity, with used specimens being quoted at $8,000 and mint condition ones at approximately $25,000. Mint blocks of four stamps, which are exceedingly rare, are estimated in the $110,000 to $130,000 range. As recently as 1960, however, both the used and mint copies of the stamp were selling for about $3,000 each, while a mint block of four had an estimated value of
only $15,000 or so.
