Two Gorgeous Carved Faces / Heads Salvaged From Antique Cupboard In Normandy In The 1970s Very Well Done

9-1/2" x 6" x 3-1/2" . . . . .all hand carved . . .grain painted . . . .its amazing that you can immediately tell these are French / European . . . .I bought these at a house call last week . . . .I actually almost did not get them . . . .they were on a shelf in this ladies den . . . .she is moving and called me in to buy things . . .she told me I could buy them BUT she said "I have to tell you the story of how I got them" . . .back in the 1970s her and her husband were in Normandy France, they rented a car . .and just drove and drove for weeks all over France . . .they were way out in the middle of nowhere and came across an old home being cleaned out out . . .there was on a big / cabinet or cupboard . . .it was falling apart and in terrible condition . . .she spotted these heads and HAD TO HAVE THEM. . . .of course she had no tools and no way to remove them . . . . they tried to break them off with scrap wood and a brick. . . but with no luck . . . .they were about to leave as it was getting dark and then they thought "what about the tool / handle to jack up the car" . . . .they looked in the trunk . . (it was a rental car - this was in 1978 it was a Peugeot) no handle OR jack . . .they then realized the jack / handle were under the hood . . . .it took another 40 minutes to get them off. . . . .and she saved them all this time . . . .after she told me that story she said . . . .
