Item Description

This trio of books all interconnect with the work of Mathew Brady, an early American photographer and one of the earliest war photographers. He was the "official photographer" for the Union Army in the Civil War where he rode on a horse-drawn wagon to accompany the troops and record the war firsthand. His war pictures are considered by many among the greatest war photographs ever taken. This trio of books inlcudes:

Antique edition: History of the Civil War by Benson Lossing with photographs by Mathew Brady, published by The War Memorial Association in 1912. Bound in red cloth hardcover with frontispiece in color. Binding has partially separated from spine. Embossed illustrated colver with some gold gilt lettering. Foxing present.

Vintage edition: Mr. Lincoln's Camera Man: Mathew B. Brady by Roy Meredith, published by Charles Scribners Sons in 1946. Illustrated with black & white photographs. Bound in blue cloth hardcover, spine binding and pages intact. Foxing present.

Mathew Brady by Barry Pritzker, published by JG Press and reprinted in 2003. Hardcover with dust jacket present. Spine, page and binding intact.
