Thorens TD 124 Turntable

Vintage direct-drive turntable made in Switzerland during the early 1960s. If you are looking at this listing, you probably already know all about Thorens turntables – and the TD 124 is considered the best of their legendary line. The “Rolls Royce of Record Players” (Stereo Magazine). This TD 124 is missing a cartridge and plastic cover, but it is otherwise in very good condition for its age. When last tested the table powered on, but doesn't always turn and/or isn't turning at the right speed. This turntable is over 60 years old and will need to be refurbished (or modified as desired) and have a new or refurbished tone arm fitted to reach “plug and play” functionality. As a result, It is being sold strictly on an “as is” basis. It is an excellent foundation for refurbishment or a “statement” modification project but – depending on the purchasers’ intentions – will need work before it can function in an audio system.
