Coleman was a music investigator of the Lincoln School of Teachers College at Columbia University. This comprehensive work offers a fascinating look at the history and tradition of bells. Beginning with bells from primitive times, the book discusses some of the legends attached to bells, how bells are made and used, bells in other parts of the world (Italy, Russia, England, China, Japan, India, and more), animal bells, hand bells and much more.
