This is a rare watch, by a good maker, dating to right around 1950. By CORTLAND, one of their popular 'Seventeen' models, named so because it features a top-end Swiss movement with 17 jewels. What makes this model desirable is that BOTH the case and band are SOLID 800 silver. Not plated, but solid silver. The 80% silver case and band were manufactured by prominent silversmith FOPE, for Cortland, better known for watches and movements. It is 70+/- years old, but still in good aesthetic and functioning condition. Has kept good time for 24 hours after fully winding. It has a unique mid-century modern look and unclasps just below the bezel for ease of wearing. A stunning SOLID silver MCM watch!
