Superb High Grade ANCIENT ROMAN SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS SOLID SILVER DENARIUS- Circa 197 A.D.

An incredible example of a VERY rare ancient Roman denarius, marking the rule of trhe emperor laureate SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS. It was only minted for 3 years, between 197 and 200 A.D. [over 1800 years ago]. On the front is a draped right facing bust of the emperor, best known as the great conqueror of the Parthians. The reverse, MARS in full stride, carrying a wreath in high right hand. THe outer edge is irregular, exactly what a collector hopes to see, because they were hand struck with a hammer. The details on this coin are CRISP throughout. A rare survivor, highly desirable.
