Substantial Antique Chinese Gilt Cloisonne Covered Box- Peacocks And Chrysanthemums

Fantastic example of an antique Chinese [likely Chinese Deco Era, circa 1930+/-] cloisonne covered box. Gilt handles and trim, with a large top fresco featuring a pair of peacocks and chrysanthemums. The surround is decorated with moths flanking chrysanthemums. Measures 18" across [15.5" without handles], with a weight in excess of 20 pounds. Far more ornate than most comparable examples, with a bold color palette grounded in a sky blue base. Condition is excellent, with no damages or losses. A similar example recently sold at Freeman's Auction [Philadelphia, PA] for excess of $8000-

This vase was created by forming the entire design in wire by hand, then filling in the voids created with enamel [built up in layers]. It was VERY labor intensive, entirely hand made by master artists. Modern examples do not have the same level of detail, with much simpler forms and designs.
