Stunning Original 19th Century Aesthetic Movement JAPY FRERES Belgian Slate Marble Mantel Clock

This is a wonderful antique clock by luxury maker JAPY FRERES. It is in the 'aesthetic movement' style, dating to the 1860s, at the onset of the period. It is solid slate BLACK BELGIUM MARBLE, with incised floral decoration around the dial. The dial is fire gilt [real gold is baked into the surface], and ornately decorated, with Roman numerals. It has 4 gilt ball-over-ball finials, as well as bun feet [also gilt in gold]. The side rails and pediment are fluted, and the back of the clock has an upper fender. The finest feature is the hand painted CHINOSERIE scene across the apron, with songbirds and cherry blossoms. It has the original key and pendulum. When last tested, in good working order.
