Stunning Antique Mid 19th Century Austrian Bohemian Amber Cut To Clear Mug- Hunter With Dog Chasing Deer

The 2nd of 2 stunning antique Austrian amber cut-to-clear mugs, also in remarkable condition. The color, composition, form and subject are all quite rare. A hunter with rifle in hand and dog by his side, giving chase to a retreating stag. Game birds- likely roused by the report of a gunshot- are stirring above the trees. In the distance, a castle on a high point, surrounded by a cropping of pine trees. It is a striking composition. Dates to the 2nd half of the 19th century [circa 1860]. Stands 5.5". The root-beer colored base is quite unusual, and adds to the visual interest. A fantastic example throughout.
