Item Description

Eugenia Joyce Fayen has been painting and drawing in the New Haven area since the early 1960s. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she attended Rhode Island School of Design and received an MFA from the Yale School of Art in 1962 with a major in drawing. She illustrated Mesoamerican figurines for anthropological research publications, and worked in the print studio of Ives-Sillman, Inc. As an independent artist, her media includes acrylic paint, printmaking, ink drawing and others. She has shown her work at the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Creative Arts Workshop, Artspace New Haven, and others. She also created the illustrations for two editions of the local guidebook Enjoying New Haven.
