Wonderful set of fifteen pieces of what I believe to be original 1930s Federal "Madrid" pattern depression glass serving ware, including seven plates, one butter dish or bowl, four tea cups, and three sundae cups. These were marked in a box "Our Mother's Depression Glass Packed March 2008" (from an estate of an elderly woman who passed, so her mother) and kept separate from other depression glass, based on this and other observations and research, I believe these are original 1930s Madrid pattern pieces. This is of note because these molds were destroyed in the 1940s as scrap metal for World War II. The molds were then copied in the 1970s from existing pieces, so modern reproductions exist but with small variations in spacing of the pattern (there are some in this sale, which as I noted, were kept separate from these by the collector whose estate this is with the tag that they were reproduction - and she was seemingly a very savvy glass collector). Cool find!
Notes: These have been packed in a box for 15 years, so need cleaning. I polished up one of each for show but all items are sold as-is. I did not observe any major chips or cracks but this is not a guarantee the lot is in perfect condition. I do make an effort to inspect for and show imperfections.
