Figures stand 12" tall.
Santons, or Little Saints, were first made after the French Revolution when the government closed churches and banned their large nativity scenes. Their making was a subversive craft, and the tradition of these hand made figures is carried on today in Aubagne, France, where this pair was made.
These hand made terra-cotta figures and moulded in two parts, fired, hand painted and clothed in very detailed hand made garments.
Both figures are signed M DILANDRO in the mould at the base.
They stand 12" tall.
They are in very good condition without chips or cracks.
Their clothing does not have any holes or stains.
