The handle is a lizard. The lower length of the lizard curls around the belly of the vase. Two rear feet hold on tight below the neck. The sinewy length curls up to form the handle, then curls around the neck, with the front feet positioned on the neck, and the gaping toothy head positioned below the feet. The body of the serpent has spines poking out. The foliage is hand painted, with a gold trim.
