This is a charming, vintage, primitive acrylic on canvas board from the early 1970s that will give any room a cozy feel. It features a Colonial era mother and daughter, with a dozing cat at their feet. There is also a quilt, bedwarmer and pewter candle with hurricane shade in the background. The artist used a technique where he outlined the objects in a fine black line.
I'm not 100% on the signature. It is also written on the back. It may say S. Gobar, Shaun Jabar. It is unclear.
Notes: Please view the numerous, detailed photos for an accurate appraisal of this item's condition. The wooden frame has plenty of scrapes, scratches, digs and gouges, however it is a rustic piece, so it seems to fit the piece. The canvas board is secured into the frame with blobs of clear silicon on the reverse. There are also remnants of old cellophane tape and tears from it in the back of the board. The painting itself is in wonderful condition, though.
Consistent with age and use.
The board itself measures 12 by 16; the rustic wood frame with gold inset trim is 17.25 by 21.25."
