A famous 1969 Richard Avedon illustrated poster against the Vietnam War. Avedon's picture depicts a young soldier wearing a formal US Army uniform colored bright red, symbolic for blood. The soldier is seen holding a white dove, over the caption, 'Who Has a Better Right to Oppose the War?' Commissioned by The Student Mobilization Committee, the poster became a effective anti-war rallying device of the late 1960s.
The poster is in good vintage condition with slight creasing on edges. It has never been displayed. This poster was sent in a mailing tube in1969, and the mailing tube is included in this lot with the return address of the SMC - the Student Mobilization Committee. The mailing tube also held the Jasper Johns poster lot #13.
