Item Description

An Empire style mirror. This piece has a rectangular mirror with a top piece of reverse painted glass. The painting depicts swan boats on the Charles River in Boston Harbor and is signed at bottom right ‘Sandra Boyadjian.’ The frame is gold toned wood.

Mirror measures 14.5" W x 24" H.

Pier mirrors date back to the 18th century, when their ability to make a room feel brighter really was key, due to a lack of electricity. They're simply named for where they were hung in the home — the wall between two windows is referred to as a pier, and they were typically placed in parlors and other living areas. wikipedia.com
