Raymond Klee (British, 1925-2013)

Signed 'KLEE' on lower right.

Frame measures 27" x 39"
Canvas measures 25.75" x 37.75"

Raymond Klee was born in South Wales in 1925.
Klee served at sea, throughout WW2 in the Merchant Navy as gunner crew, right up until the late forties. Following his career in the Navy, he studied drawing at Birmingham Art College, beginning in watercolours, where he then graduated to oils. He lived in the Montmatre artists' quarter in Paris, and also southern France. During the late 1950s and 1960s he was the only British painter to be elected a member of the Syndicate of Montmarte art group, whose members have included Picasso and Braque.
