Rare Early Victor Vasarely Signed/numbered Belle Isle Collage With Screenprint - Editions Esselier Paris

Good vintage condition showing normal signs of wear consistent with age and use such as scuffs and dust. Signed lower right. Numbered 95/138.

Original collage with screenprint. 1947-69. Signed in pencil. Numbered (95) from the edition of 138 (there were also 22 proofs). Collage applied by Vasarely at the studio of Bernard Duval over screenprint printed at the Atelier Broutelles et Launay. Issued in the series: 'Descartes - Discours de la Méthode', Editions Essellier, Paris 1969. The forms in this rare early collage were inspired by observing the pebbles on the seashore and the movement of the waves during visits to Brittany. It became a starting point for his interest in movement and shape.
