Item Description

Full title "Lives of Seventy of the Most Eminent Painters, Sculptors and Architects by Giorgio Vasari, edited and annotated in the light of recent discoveries by E.H. and E.W. Blashfield and A.A. Hopkins with reproductions in photogravure of 48 masterpieces of Italian painting and sculpture" Published Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1986L and printed at Trow Directory Printing. Special limited edition of 500 is hand numbered 328 in red in each volume.

Note: Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) was a Renaissance painter and architect. This work is considered the ideological foundation of art history writings and continues to be cited today in works covering Italian Renaissance artists.

This handsome set is cloth bound with gold top head and sturdy poppy red cloth dust jackets. Spine, binding and deckled edged pages are all intact and very good condition. No water damage notations, or foxing. Dust jacket spines have title information in gold lettering and color has slightly faded from from age.
