Post Civil War 1869 Massachusetts Testimonial & The People's Gratitude For His Patriotism To Solomon Foster -who served in Co. G, 12th INFANTRY during the Civil War. Handed to Solomon Foster in a Ceremony in Boston, Massachusetts on April 19, 1870.
This beautiful and respectful document is full of ornate printed scenes representing our United States and its leaders with scenes and leaders who played prominent roles during the Civil War: President (back during Civil War years) Abraham Lincoln, (a litho of him on the left side); Governor William Claflin (he is the litho on the right side); Adj. General James A. Cunningham (he is the small litho below the body of the document); the Bald Headed Eagle; an oval scene with a Native American woman; US Flags; an Army Infantry Man with a Canon and Rifle with Bayonette affixed; a Sailor with a Canon; Epluribus Unum and other Latin scripts; etc.
"The Commonwealth of Massachusetts honoring the faithful services of her. Sons who formed a part of the land and the sea forces of the United States employed in suppressing Rebellion and maintaining the integrity of the Nation...." Hand-Signed in ink in the lower section by the Adjutant General of Massachusetts, Gen James Adam Cunningham and the Massachusetts Governor William Claflin.
This original frame is an great example of antique framing - beautiful multi-layered matting and in the unusual "shield-shaped" art viewing section shape; multi-beaded raised wood frame with gold-gilded interior border; and the most beautiful backside raw wide- boards (one is 10" wide and the other is 14" wide!) still held in place with antique hand made flat-sided nails; strong wire cable for hanging hardware; and some remnants of the old paper covering that has been mostly torn away.

-Please -only 1 Person inside the main Pick-Up room at a time.
- If there is a buyer ahead of you, or Auction Staff members near you, please keep at least 6 feet in-between each other in accordance with the recommended social distancing guidelines.
- All of our personnel will be wearing the appropriate protection gear at the time of pickup.
