Impressive Antique Edwardian 14K White Gold Carved Shell Cameo With Diamond- Massive 26.2 Grams!

This is one of the largest cameos we've owned [used a quarter to show massive scale], circa 1895, Edwardian Period with a SOLID 14K WHITE GOLD BEZEL/FRAME [tested and marked], as well as a 14K gold necklace draped around her neck centered with a superb, clear, mine-cut diamond [tested]. It is wonderfully carved- her face elegant and regal, roses adding aesthetic interest. Condition is excellent, with no damages. The bezel was hand-formed by a master jeweler during the period, with ornate filigree work and applied leaves in high relief. It was made to be worn BOTH as a brooch or a necklace, with an articulating bale to accept a chain if being worn around the neck. It weighs 26.2 grams, 3 times the weight of a traditional-scale cameo. It has lots of precious metal weight, estimated at well over $400- in GOLD MELT value alone. The 14k gold bezel is hefty, carrying up the sides and throughout the filigree and applique, as well as her necklace/setting. I showed much smaller examples that recently sold at auction. The cameo that achieved $1000- was only 12 grams [ours 26.2 grams, more than twice the weight] and the carving inferior to the one we are offering. We are opening it for MUCH LESS than the gold alone is worth, to make it approachable and a clear value for collectors. One would be hard pressed to find a better example.
