This utterly sweet yet very modern painting by artist
Sara Wellington Dodge 1941-2014 depicts a child holding her stuffed animal. It’s colorful and abstracted patterning and subject matter make it a joyful image and perfect for
a child’s room. Dated 1973 with title ‘Mistress Mary’ on back. In brushed gold frame. Size 40 W x 30 H
Condition Good with some slight age spots on
back of canvas see photo.

ABOUT ARTIST
Sara Wellington Dodge graduayed from the Emma Willard School in Troy, New York and from Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, New York, where she majored in Art, and received the Guggenheim Award for excellence in that subject. Upon graduation, she took a position as an assistant to the Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City where she worked until her marriage to David D. Dodge in 1963, and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio until 1981 when she and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She was an accomplished artist and was represented by galleries in Scottsdale, Cincinnati, Nantucket, Palm Beach and Naples, Florida. She spent her life painting, sculpting, playing music on her
Steinway piano, singing, and raising her children.
