Consuelo Gamboa paints temptingly escapist scenes, finely detailed still lifes and humorous animal imagery that all emanate a warm, inviting ambiance. Growing up in Durango and Chihuahua, Mexico, Gamboa was surrounded by a creative family. Mentored by her grandmother, who was an artist, Gamboa furthered her education in Mexico, England and France before settling in Southern California. Primarily using watercolors, Gamboa paints idealized scenes of country life, as well as images of beautiful women relaxing in tranquil settings. In 1987, she formed Gamboa Publishing, which escalated her visibility worldwide.
