Item Description

This black grand Mason & Hamlin piano once belonged to the actress Myrna Loy and came from her Westport CT home. The piano exterior is a black mat finish and overall finish is consistent with age and much use and is being sold as is. All of our pianos sold online are assessed by Paul Haller of PH Pianos Stamford, CT. See assessment and the personal backstory below.

"The golden age Hollywood movie star Myrna Loy (who starred in the iconic The Thin Man movies as Nora Charles, and was one of the reigning stars of MGM), was our adopted “aunt”—a very close family friend, who used to come and spend part of each summer at our family house in Westport, CT. This vintage Mason and Hamlin piano had been hers, and when we were children, she placed it with our family for that house, where it lived happily for a few decades.
We bought the piano from the sisters because Meg brought us to them when they still lived in Westport and had an estate sale.
Both sisters Deb and Jess grew up with Hollywood royalty.
Even Gershwin played on it!
We used to have a pic of Myrna Loy from the sisters
when we bought the piano but we lost it in the recent move".
