Margit Elsohn Large Heavy Elephant

Margit Subak Elsohn studio pottery sculpture features a Large Elephant that sits on top of a black base. A note on an elephant's trunk facing downward. NO, IT'S NOT BAD LUCK! It is believed that an elephant with its trunk pointed down stores luck and energy. It is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge allowing you to easily overcome various tasks and obstacles. To stay grounded at work or to reserve strength and vitality at home, keep an elephant with a trunk pointing downward. CIRCA: 20th. No visual signs of any chips, or loss to paint. There is a pottery defect that looks like a crack, IT IS NOT. Not all handmade pottery melds at every angle. There is no fear of it cracking or breaking, however, I wanted to show it in the photos. A Note About The Artist: MARGIT SUBAK ELSOHN enjoyed a remarkably long and storied life as a potter and teacher. She taught pottery at Greenwich House from 1965 to 1971 and at the Potter's Studio from 1969 to 1980. She exhibited extensively and her work is included in many private collections in the U.S. and abroad. See All Photos As Part of the Description. One small part of the trunk was repaired some years back. With Base Measures 14.5"H x 15"L. Base is 9 1/4"Square and 2 3/4" H

Notes: No Cracks, Chips or Loss Of Paint. The Front Tip of one Tusk was Previously Repaired some years ago.
