The U.S. M16 Civilian Defense CD V-800 Noncombat Protective Mask featured a single plastic panoramic lens, side exhale valve, and 60mm filter. Developed by Firestone Rubber in the late 1950s, the mask was finalized in 1957 and issued to civilian defense workers as the M16 Civilian mask.
It was designed to be a simple and straightforward device and intended for use in civilian defense scenarios where it was able to provide adequate protection in these situations.
This mask is used in combination with the M11 gas mask filter. The filter is grey in color and is marked with the serial/lot number and other markings stamped into the metal. This filter was used to provide protection against various types of chemical agents.
