One of two works being offered which came directly from the artist in Athens back in 1953

Roger Tourte was born in France in 1903 and died in Greece in 1972. He studied painting and architecture at Ecole des Beaux - Arts in Paris. He traveled to Africa, Persia, China, Japan and North America. Just before the war he went to Greece where he settled permanently and dealt mainly with watercolor depicting ancient monuments, flowers, churches, islands and continental landscapes of Greece. His works are distinguished for their design ability and their color sensitivity.
